Captain Tom Boyce and Chef Sheila Boyce both hold a USCG 100-ton Master of Oceans license. Tom has over 19 years and Sheila has over 10 years sailing experience in the Caribbean, Mediteranean, North Atlantic, and Pacific Northwest. As a team, they've been together 13 years and chartering for six years throughout the Eastern Caribbean and the Mediterranean. They are down-island specialists, having spent two years based in the Grenadines, then three in the Virgin Islands. Both are PADI-certified divers, who love all kinds of watersports. They can show you the many spectacular snorkeling spots around the Caribbean, and arrange for rendezvous diving during your charter. Tom and Sheila like to keep fresh for charter by moving ashore every few years. Most recently, they spent five years in Toronto, Canada, where Tom was CEO of a 300-store retail chain, and Sheila earned her MBA at the University of Toronto before working in Human Resources Consulting. When not working, they have traveled the world to seek out the finest food, wine and adventure as background for their charter work. They enjoy any opportunity to polish Sheila's Spanish language skills and their appreciation of other cultures. Sheila also attended the Culinary Institute of America at its Napa Valley campus in January, 1998, to expand and hone her culinary skills. Italian-trained Engineer and First Mate Kemal Hursit holds a 120-ton International Captain's License. With over 20 years experience in the yachting and charter industry, Kemal brings a wealth of knowledge to the daily operations aboard "Oz." He has considerable experience sailing in the Mediterranean, with extensive knowledge of and a fond affection for the stunning Turkish coast, including the Blue Voyage route. Kemal enjoys all water sports and is a certified diver. He was born in Izmir, Turkey, and enjoys sharing his rich Turkish background by cooking the delicious cuisine of his country, explaining its history and culture, and teaching basics of the Turkish language. Stewardess Anna Hursit has completed several charter seasons in the Mediterranean. Anna's experience working at her family's guest ranch in southern Colorado combined with her outgoing, energetic personality will make you feel right at home aboard "Oz," as she provides you with excellent, personable service. A native New Mexican, Anna has over ten years experience as a multicultural and primary school educator and enjoys speaking Spanish, discussing Southwestern history and culture, and preparing its unique cuisine. Anna also enjoys an active lifestyle; she has yet to find a sport she doesn't enjoy. Anna met Kemal while bareboating along the Turkish coast. When not working, Kemal and Anna enjoy traveling to adventurous destinations and visiting family and friends around the world. |
