Welcome
Onboard Gannet !

Captain Ian Hughes and Chef
Jeannie Kuich
Captain
Ian Hughes was born and educated in
England and emigrated to the US in 1967 with a
Ph.D in Metallurgy. He worked as a scientist and
engineer in a Midwest steel company, leaving his
position as Chief Scientific Officer.
A naturalized
American with a USCG Master's License, Ian has
sailed in the Atlantic, Adriatic and Caribbean
waters, and on the Great Lakes. He has a passion
for sailing, people and cooking and has an
uncanny ability to interact with his guests and
to make them laugh. It is Ian's pride to treat
his guests on Gannet in the traditional style and
elegance befitting of this lovely Alden yacht.
Once a Texas girl,
Jeannie has been sailing
and cooking in the Caribbean since 1967 on
charter boats up to a hundred and fifty
feet. Her culinary knowledge has been
gained through her extensive chartering and on
her travels around the world. Jeannie is
delighted to be the chef aboard Gannet since,
because of the intimate and personal nature of
the charters, she can tailor the menu to meet
your individual requirements.
An enthusiastic
knowledgeable and competitive sailor, Jeannie and
her husband Mike have sailed up and down the
Caribbean and to Nova Scotia and
Norway. In 1982-84, they
circumnavigated on Stargazer, their Columbia 50'
sloop.
Jeannie has a
passion for the outdoors and for astronomy.
She loves to share her knowledge of the night sky
and to tell stories about the stars, and is the
author of "Soap Operas in the Sky" with
her own website
Jeannie's
self-confidence, relaxed manner, and her love of
cooking and sailing, all allow her to provide a
wonderful and unique experience for her guests
aboard Gannet.
