John and Maxine White
take great pleasure in welcoming you aboard
Tamarin. A professional and enthusiastic crew,
their combined experiences help make them perfect
guides and hosts.
John White, known as
Whitey, hails from Perth, Western Australia. His
experience encompasses 40, 000 miles at sea
throughout the Pacific and the Caribbean,
including extensive racing on San Francisco Bay,
California. A journeyman electrician, he built a
successful security alarm systems company in San
Francisco and ran it for ten years until he sold
his business to sail full time. Whitey is a
licensed captain and certified SCUBA instructor
who enjoys showing you the beauty of the islands
and the sea. He is also an avid windsurfer and
waterskiier.
Maxine, who also has
many miles of sailing experience, is an American
originally from the land-locked state of Utah.
She holds a degree in Human Resource Management
and left the corporate world to join Whitey in
his sailing adventures. A special treat aboard
Tamarin are the great meals! Max's culinary
skills and love for cooking will delight you. Her
imaginative dishes utilize the freshest local and
imported ingredients. Maxine is a Dive Master who
enjoys exploring the world under the sea.
Whitey and Maxine have
been a team for many years, sailing, chartering,
and diving extensively in the Pacific, the Sea of
Cortez and the Caribbean. They were married at
Cane Garden Bay, Tortola, and have been
chartering the past six years in the Virgin
Islands. Both speak Spanish and Whitey speaks
some German and Portuguese. Join them as they
share their intimate knowledge of the area with
you and ensure that you have a sailing vacation
of a lifetime.
