Bruce
and Vanessa Davidson
(33) worked in education for 10 years in South Africa and
Zimbabwe before fulfilling their dream of sailing across the
South Atlantic to the Caribbean,
which lead them to the
British Virgin Islands.
Bruce,
a RYA Yacht
Master hails from Cape Town, South Africa where he started
sailing from a young age. His passion for the ocean is
evident in a 16-year voluntary commitment to the National Sea
Rescue Institute of South Africa. His ability to work
under extreme pressure and calm, clear-thinking manner meant
that he reached the senior position of Coxswain of a sea
rescue base. His adventurous spirit combined with his
professional attitude provides many a heartwarming and
informative story of his travels through Europe, Africa and
the Caribbean. His strength of character has been honed
through years as a voluntary personal and trauma counselor for
Lifeline in South Africa, and he has successfully managed his
own furniture-making and woodworking business as well as
teaching design and technology at high school level. He has
been actively involved in sport at all levels, both in a
coaching and team capacity. His own particular interests
other than sailing, includes diving, surfing, rugby and
cricket! Bruce is
an Advanced open water diver and is in the process of
acquiring his Dive masters certification
